JIGGA AND OASIS....
Cookin’ Soul’s OJAYZIS: Jay-Z vs OASIS (Mixtape)
Meka posted a sample earlier and now I bring you the full thing! This morning we we’re approached by Cookin’ Soul to be a part of their OJAYZIS project. They completed the mixtape in less one night while I knocked out the artwork in an even shorter time haha. And that takes NOTHING away from the quality, this shit is dope! UPDATE: As I wrote in a news piece on DX, the tape has done over 10k downloads so far! And we just got a nod on MTV! Just wanted to thank everyone for the support! Don’t sleep and the CS boys have something to add…
You know we had to do it.
Yeah, it is today’s beef… or should we say today’s biggest promo move?
We too, we on a promo move.
It ’s been our hardest work so far. Don’t even try it at home, OASIS ain’t The Delfonics if you know what we mean….
We crafted this in one single night.
Real talk
Enjoy!

ITS NOT Hip-Hop!!! But guess what.... I posted it anyway. Dont like it, dont fucking download it. Dont waste your energy on crying about it because i give a fuck... Enjoy to those of you that i KNOW still like some musical variety in your lives.
I liked the CD. Its not their best work. Has a few radio tracks on it. I would really say they found a happy medium between Slipknot and Stone Sour (those that have any musical knowledge). Dont expect a thrash CD at all. Be ready for the ups and downs. Done really well, like an old Pantera CD (RIP D.B.D)!!!
Album Review (not from HHB):
Far distant screeching of guitars and vocal cords begin the album. Execute's noise creeping closer, building intensity, gaining pace and growing volume until exploding onto the 2nd track Gematria (The Killing Name). Gematria is a politically charged anthem, crammed with quotes from speeches and thought provoking questions. Asking "America... What if God doesn't care?"
The relentlessness of the opening is calmed by Sulfur, which wouldn't go wrong on a Stone Sour album. The fade out of slow Sulfur is met with the speed of the typically Slipknot sounding Psychosocial. I have no doubt Psychosocial will join the likes of Wait & Bleed, Duality and Before I Forget as Slipknot songs which have broken into the mainstream without losing the hard edge which makes Slipknot. It's complexity is it's simplicity.
The influence of Metallica's Enter Sandman is very evident in Dead Memories, having both a similar riff and song structure. In the second half, though, the masked veteran's trademark guitar onslaught appears. Alan Moore's V would love the surprising upbeat nature of Vendetta, asking questions like "Are You Ready for the Time of Your Life?" Managing to highlight the main theme of the album; "Slipknot Are Back and Better Than Ever." The band have not needed to change anything and somehow still sound fresh.
The album continues with Butcher's Hook, incredibly allowing all nine members a chance to have the limelight which with it's catchy chorus confirms this song as the best in the album thus far. Following the likes of Butcher's Hook with speed could only be done in a DragonForce album, so Slipknot take the chance to slow the pace with the experimental Gehenna.
"TRY TO STOP ME IF YOU CAN!" screams lead singer Corey Taylor in This Cold Black. The song is arguably the strongest on the album, containing a top notch guitar solo, athemic lyrics and a drum track which begs the question: How many drum kits does Joey Jordison go through? If his drum kit hasn't broken, then after Wherein Lies Continue it's going to be in pieces. Although the constant smashing of the drums are relaxed in Vermilion sound alike Snuff.
The album finishes with it's title track, All Hope is Gone. First released in June, the song promised fans this album would be even more noise that sounds like Slipknot. The song is so typically Slipknot that you could guess the band within the first note of the song. Which, in this case, is a good thing as the song is perfect. It sums up Slipknot's work and leaves you yearning for more.
Fans and critics alike had waited 4 years for Slipknot to produce new material, but the wait was worth it. The album is getting rave reviews from the mainstream to the underground and from the void in between, us included. If we have to wait another 4 years for more material we are sure it will be worth it.
Slipknot - All Hope Is Gone: 5/5 - Takes the heaviness of Iowa and melody of The Subliminal Verses and mashes it together.

REASON 4 VS ABELTON 7....WHATS BETTER??
Reason 4 VS Ableton Live 7
So I get asked this question quite a bit from aspiring and starting programmers, ” what should I get, Reason or Live?” So I thought I might take a stab at addressing some of the pro’s and con’s of both as I see it. I by no means claim to be an expert, but through trial and error, I have determined what makes the most sense for me as a programmer and drummer.
Reason 4:
This is the latest installment of Reason, the wildly popular music creation software. The concept is that you have a virtual rack that you can then add different rack mounted instruments and effects units to create midi based music. If you have been around music for a while, and understand signal flow to some degree, the interface is somewhat intuitive. The scope of Reason is all encompassing from a music creation perspective, so not only can you use it to program beats, you can use it to create every instrument in the band. I programmed an entire record for someone using Reason, I did all the drums, bass and keys on the record using it. As a programmer from the drummer perspective, I like Reason because I think it comes with pretty decent stock sounds already that you can use for creating beats right out of the hat. Some of the sounds are individual instruments, and some are preset loops. I like the interface, and the usability of the program. Where it falls short to me is incorporating Reason as a live instrument on stage, meaning, actually playing the beats that you have created from the program during a live set. It seems like it was really created more as a creation software, not really a playing software.
Live 7:
This software hails from Germany, and was created out of the rave scene in Europe. DJ who were doing really long sets of playing beats needed some kind of software that would interact and be as flexible as turntables. So the concept is, there are 2 side to the program. One is the Clip page, which looks like a large grid where you can load many different audio clips into the program, and then through some pretty amazing algorithms, you can play those clips at any tempo at any time, and fire them off and have them come in on the next downbeat. Brilliant in my perspective. Second is the Arrange page which acts more like a conventional, linear recording software, like pro tools or logic. This is a feature that Reason does not offer. Live somes stock with quite a few, really good sounding plug ins, then they offer a ton of great combos, chains of plug ins that developers have created to really creep out and wack out your sounds. Live is the ultimate software for playing loops and sequences because of the design of the software. On the creation side of things, it does offer 3 instruments that come stock with the program. Between these 3 you can do drums sounds which do come with the program, and some synth stuff as well that allows you to do keys, and guitars. The creation side of things seems to be a little clunkier than Reason, but you can still get it done.
So here is my conclusion:
I use both…… maybe not what you wanted to hear. I actually use quite a few different programs to create, my theory, the more weapons in your arsenal, the better. But not matter what I use to create audio files with, I ALWAYS PLAY THEM WITH LIVE! That is the only program I trust to open on stage with me when I play because of how well it runs. It was designed specifically for that. So if you had to buy one program as someone who plans on using the software to create, and then play the audio as well in a live situation, I would vote for Live.
Again, I don’t claim to know everything about both of these programs, but these are my findings as a working programmer and drummer. I hope it helps in some form or fashion.
